After having met nine years ago at the University of the West Indies, bubbly Maria and her sweet husband Josef finally decided to tie the knot. With the cutest theme, close friends and family all joined together in one beautiful place, they had the time of their lives and have an amazing love story to tell. We had so much fun interviewing these two, and can’t wait to show you their life after the wed coming soon… 😉

Huge thanks to Maria & Josef for sharing their beautiful love story with us! Do Enjoy!

“I’m not sure we believe in that (love at first sight), but there was definitely some degree of attraction between us when we met at UWI 9 years ago, we were good friends and then he asked me out on a date and we’ve been together ever since.”

Husband: Favourite Moment

“Seeing her walk down the aisle.”

Wife: Favourite Moment

“Seeing him waiting for me at the altar, looking slightly teary eyed.”

“The day definitely went better than expected. I expected to have lots of issues but everything went pretty smoothly. Having a wedding coordinator and 9 bridesmaids sure helped!”

“I love the outdoors, so I wanted something to reflect that. A very green setting, with lots of twinkling lights, water fountains and lots of flowers. Our theme was “love birds”, so all the tables had centerpieces of mini bird cage style lanterns filled with flowers. Dynamic Designs gave us everything we wanted and more! I loved the décor and the ambiance it created. it was a fun atmosphere and everyone really enjoyed themselves.”

“Simply put… my wedding gown was the one that when I tried it on, made me cry. At that moment I knew I had to have it. I spent countless sleepless nights trying to figure out how I could get one in time for the wedding, and thankfully I did!”

“The image of my special needs sister crying tears of joy during the ceremony would most definitely be my favourite image from our special day. It brought me to tears when I saw it for the first time.”

“Our musical selections were, “A Thousand Years (Instrumental, followed by Canon in D major instrumental) for our processional; “Love Changes Everthing” for our recessional; and “Kiss Me” by Ed Sheeran for our first dance. Something cute to note, we absolutely loved this song when it came out and it was a close call between this and John Legend, but Ed Sheeran won out in the end.”

“We decided on Mexico for our honeymoon. We wanted to try something a bit different from the USA or Caribbean island trips we had taken in the past; where we could just relax and enjoy each other, plus we wanted to practice our Spanish (lol) and Cancun provided just that.”

“My advice for newly engaged couples would be to:

  • Start planning early. Don’t put off stuff for later, it really piles up and then you end up being stressed unnecessarily.
  • Definitely get a coordinator for the day so you have a stress free wedding day. Someone to handle any problems that may come up in the background.
  • Enjoy the planning process and the engagement period. Remember to have fun with your fiancé planning, and don’t forget that it’s your special day so make sure the elements that are on your must have list are present.”

Thank you so much to Maria & Josef for sharing their sweet love story with us, and of course huge thank you to Crested Light Photography for the amazing pictures!
