Our excitement is mounting today, as this week we have the pleasure and honour of featuring one of the most awe-inspiring weddings that we have ever posted on Adriana Weddings. It’s not every day that you get the opportunity to feature the wedding of a long time friend of yours, and what makes it even sweeter is that this couple actually turned out to be one of the winners of our Christmas Promotion, where they won a FREE Cocktail Hour from one of the best Bar Services in Trinidad & Tobago (and of course an AW member) Ace Bar Services.

We are so in love with this couple, and to be honest, even though the groom is a darling, the lovely bride Krysta-Rae is the one who simply stole our hearts. You are gem Krysta-Rae, and we are so thrilled to be sharing your love story with the world today.

So without further ado, let us introduce our babes of the week…Bryant and Krysta-Rae!

FROM THE COUPLE:

How we met was actually a pretty cute story. We were both in 51 degrees night club one night and I told my friends “that’s him, that’s the one”. While walking in front of him I tripped and that’s the first time he noticed me.

“On the Sunday following the party, I messaged him on facebook and he returned the message one day later. We spoke for a couple weeks on facebook until he asked for my number and gave me his. We dated for a bit and he officially asked me to be his girlfriend on 5thDecember 2009 in Tobago,” says Krystal-Rae.

THE PROPOSAL

“In February 2017, I was asked by a friend to do a commercial for Blue Waters Inn in Tobago from March 14th– March 15th, 2017. The client was looking for a couple to be in the advertisement. I asked Bryant if he was interested and with a little hesitation he said yes. So we were in Piarco airport waiting to fly to Tobago on March 14th, 2017 and I said to him “Do you know what today is?” He replied “yes, Jovon’s birthday (who turned out to be his best man and even mentioned this story in his speech). I’m like today is our ‘I love you anniversary’. Anyway, fast forward through the day doing the shoot in beautiful Speyside, having the best day of my life (until my wedding day of course) and we were exhausted,” says Krysta-Rae.

The last shot for the day was a dinner scene, and it turned out to be the BEST scene ever.

“So, let me explain the situation for you guys… “Table next to the ocean with the moonlight shining on the water”. We went downstairs together to the restaurant area and we were sitting and talking while the crew was filming. Bryant took my hand and began to say “It’s been 7 years that we’ve been together and I am ready to spend the rest of my life with you. Of course I am close to tears and grinning from ear to ear but still I have no clue what is about to happen. From behind me a waitress comes with a tray covered with a cloth and I think “ok…this is part of the commercial”. Bryant stood up and pulled off the cloth revealing a ring box. My mouth dropped open and he came around to me, got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Ofcourse…I said yes.

If you were wondering, just like I was at that moment – yes it was a real commercial and Bryant planned this with them since he heard the date of the advertisement. He was planning to propose in a different way before we were called to work, but wow was it so unexpected and magical,” adds the lovely bride.

THE DETAILS

The couple chose a rustic theme because the items are simple and timeless and it’s what they wanted for their day. As the Krysta-Rae says, “Just as simple and romantic as our relationship is.”

The bride’s favourite moment was the second after we exchanged rings when Bryant said to me with a smile “we’re married”, and the groom’s was the moment I saw Krys walk through the church doors in her beautiful white dress.

“I had so many dresses in mind before deciding on the one. I went dress shopping and at the end of it I believed a wedding dress just wasn’t for me. I was really down until Darcel from Van der Vlugt changed my mind about wedding dresses. She worked with me to create my vision as I know my body better than anyone else. I was never the little girl who dreamt about her wedding but I knew that my wedding dress would be pretty traditional. Darcel sketched a couple dresses after listening to me and looking at pictures of dresses that did not make the cut and designed and made my perfect dress. The veil though was all her idea but it was a stunner. I didn’t tell anyone about the dress and had a first look reveal on the morning of my wedding with my mom and bridal party,” says Krysta-Rae.

The groom wore an Ecliff Elie blue 3 piece suit – the waistcoat was a navy blue patterned vest and the tie was burgundy.

“Bryant planned a special garter removal dance that was the highlight of everyone’s evening. Also our first dance had a moment where I ran and jumped into his arms BUT that was a surprise to me too. He whispered to me to run and jump moments before it happened,” adds Krysta-Rae.

Krysta-Rae didn’t have the pleasure of collecting any pieces from her grandparents or parents as heirlooms, but Bridal Designer Darcel from Van der Vlugt sewed two butterflies on her veil as representations of her late granny, Katie and late grandpa, Lenny.

“Every year around the anniversary of their death I see 2 butterflies. I told this to Darcel and she did that for me,” says Krysta-Rae.

Kennedi Clark of ZucaCupcakery baked their delicious wedding cake. Guests could not stop talking about how good it tasted. Kennedi actually did a similar ‘naked’ cake for a client previously and posted the picture on Instagram. The bride fell in love with its simplicity and how lovely it looked and asked for something similar for her special day.

“The ceremony was at Assumption Church. For as long as weddings were a conversation for me and Bryant, I knew I wanted to walk down a long aisle. Assumption Church’s aisle was perfect. But this wasn’t the reason we chose this church. Bryant sought out his past teacher at CIC, Father Ashton Pierre with hopes he would conduct the ceremony. The aisle was a bonus for me.

The reception was held at St. Andrews Golf Club, Moka. Have you seen the pictures? Look at the background! We both knew what we wanted from a venue and although SAGC wasn’t our first choice, we would not change using this venue for anything. The staff was really accommodating to us, and it was perfect,” says Krysta-Rae.

Hiring a wedding planner for your wedding day is something that we highly recommend for our couples and here’s why…

THREE WORDS: EVENTS BY TRICIA.

If you want a worry-free wedding day, month or planning process hire Tricia Ng-A-Mann. We opted for the month of coordination. As the days grew closer to the wedding, I felt like Cinderella with Tricia as my fairy godmother. I think she’s magic – her personality is so calming to a bride. With Tricia, you hire a coordinator or planner and end up with a friend who only wants the best for you. Tricia, I don’t know how you do it but we are so grateful for you,” says Krystal-Rae.

The couple has big plans for a honeymoon in 1 year. They could not afford their perfect honeymoon right after the wedding, but they do have a home together and so far, “it has been like a honeymoon everyday.” adds Krysta-Rae.

The groom’s favourite shot was the image below. He said that “It portrays a very classic love that speaks completely to what I feel for us.”

Any advice for brides to be/ newly engaged couples?

  1. Take your time – Be patient with planning. You might actually miss it when its over.
  2. Listen to your partner’s wants and needs first. Everyone around you will have an opinion but this is YOUR day.
  3. Brides – it’s not all about you. Your partner deserves just as much input into his day as you do.
  4. No one needs to understand your choices. Do what feels right. Once you two are happy, nothing else in the world matters.
