After this week’s unspeakably disastrous weather conditions in sweet Trinidad and Tobago, we were keen to inject a little love into your Wednesday, and we know that you will be inspired by this Bahamian Engagement session.
The couple in these images was truly adorable and reminded us of how much we live for these precious moments, filled with nothing but love.
Check out more from our feature of the week below:
“According to him, it was love at first sight for me”. 🙂
“A mutual friend had introduced us to each other when we were teenagers. I was still in high school and he had just graduated. At the time, he was in a relationship with someone else, so we became cordial with one another.
As time went by, he went to the island of Exuma for work as I prepared for completion of high school. We would connect through social media messaging until he expressed his interest in me. So maybe it was love at first sight…for him!
His previous relationship had ended, but we decided to remain as friends and let time guide us into what we would eventually become – a soon to be married couple. That was seven years ago, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.”
“Somehow, we always knew that we would marry each other one day. The marriage conversations began about four years ago, but we knew that once our chips were together, we would finally seal the deal.
The question was popped in September 2015 on my birthday, during a private dinner at our favorite sushi restaurant called Social House. There was no ring but we planned to pick one out on our vacation trip to Florida the following week. We were officially engaged on his birthday and it was definitely a gift for him.”
“It has been smooth sailing so far, because we are not planning for a huge wedding ceremony and reception. There will be an open ceremony at his church for all of our extended family and friends, but there won’t be an open reception. We have decided on an intimate dinner with immediate family members because truthfully that is just how we like things. Simple and intimate.”
“The best moment thus far has been selecting a venue for the dinner, and planning our honeymoon of course! The most challenging moment I must say has been finding affordable floral décor for the ceremony.”
“We are in love with the ring that we picked! It is a 14kt rose gold diamond ring with accented diamonds intertwined on both sides.
The plan was to look for a yellow gold ring because we both aren’t fond of white gold. I spotted it first but I didn’t want to show him my little interest just before I had finished glancing at all of our options.
He came upon it all on his own and said this is the one and I agreed. It was unique and definitely not what we thought we would go for. I guess that’s what made the decision extra special.”
“Our wedding date is set for October 6, 2017, and we are so excited!”
“The wedding will be held in our hometown Nassau, Bahamas at his church. We chose the church because it is the most sacred and meaningful place to us to receive God’s blessings on our union”.
“Well, my wedding dress story is actually a surprising one.
I am very fond of Stella York bridal dresses, the details are so simple yet chic and elegant. However, when I went to shop for my dress, the one that truly stood out happened to be from Galia Lahav, which definitely shocked me. It was the third dress that I tried on, and it was simply mesmerising. I so look forward to wearing it on my wedding day!
We are not having a bridal party, just a maid of honor and best man so thankfully, we have no concerns in that department. With regard to my fiancé, he isn’t too big on fashion designer trends, but I will say that he will be wearing a navy suit by DKNY.”
ANY ADVICE FOR NEWLY-ENGAGED COUPLES?
“My advice would be to follow your ideas and dreams. Do not allow anyone to influence you into doing something that is not 100% Y.O.U. Remain within your budget and don’t get caught up in the hype of having the expensive show down. You should be willing to live in content after that day is done.”
Thank you so much to the sweet couple for sharing their Engagement story with us, and to one of our favourite Bahamian photographers Braxton Gardiner Photography for the beautiful album!
