We see a significant amount of weddings in The Bahamas (not surprising considering it is definitely one of the most beautiful locations for destination weddings in the Caribbean), so it is always such a challenge for us to select just a few to feature since we just love ALL. But when Peadra and Gerron’s album landed in our inbox, we just knew with every inch of us that our readers were going to fall in love with their pictures, style, and most importantly story. And so, here we are today, with so much love and emotion in our hearts and eyes (tears), sharing this inspirational story with you. If it’s one thing that we can say with certainty guys, is that though true love may be hard to come by, after hearing this piece of magic, it definitely does exist.
“It was April 2014 and we both were on our way to San Salvador for the island’s homecoming celebration. Gerron was playing in the band as entertainment for the celebration, and I was attending the event with family members. Gerron noticed me while at the airport waiting on the flight. On the way to boarding the plane, he made his first approach. That evening while in San Salvador, Gerron and I talked and interacted more. We both enjoyed the weekend conversation, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. When we returned home to Nassau, we began to date, and see each other more and more. Who knew a weekend trip would turn into a wonderful love story.”
“As a couple we normally conversed about life plans, i.e. savings, home, and what was needed for the kids. One evening we both went for ice cream and parked along the beach as I, being the accountant, started once again talking about life plans, Gerron decided it was the time to ask a “life changing” question. He asked me to listen to him for a minute. He spoke about wanting to really change his life so that these plans can and conversations could be set strongly, and unbeknownst to me, Gerron popped the question. It was truly wonderful.”
On her feet, she wore the cutest gem flats that she purchased at David’s Bridal, while for perfume she chose Viva La Juicy from Juicy Couture. In her beautifully styled hair, glittered a sparkly gold accessory that we could not keep our eyes off.
The beauty experts responsible for Peadra’s glamorous hairstyle was Metamorphosis Beauty Salon, while the makeup was done by none other than Yeisha from Yeisha Forbes Beauty. We just adore this fabulous look done by this glam team. Peadra simply glowed on her special day.
The bridesmaids looked so stunning in their navy blue gowns by PE Design Group, one of the top designers based in The Bahamas.
Every little detail was taken into consideration, and no stone was left unturned. From the accessories and perfume to the gorgeous matching robes and accessories, this bridal party was certainly on point. And we loved every bit of it!
“My garter represented my “something blue”. The garter was navy blue, with pearl and crystal rhinestone. I also told my handsome husband, “where ever you go I will”. And so, these words were engraved on the invitations, the aisle runner, and also the cake topper, which our guests absolutely adored.”
Meanwhile the handsome groom decked out in his designer suit from Buttons Formal Wear, with his groomsmen by his side.
“The musical selections chosen throughout the ceremony and the first dance song, spoke a story to us. The entrance song of the bridesmaids were “Fall for you” by Leela James, entrance song of the flower girls were “You’re the one” by Lisa Chapman, entrance song of the bride was “Why I love you” by Major.”
“My fondest memory of the wedding was walking down the aisle to my husband, listening to the words of the music that said “I’ve found love in you, and no other love will do”. It was one of the few times in my life that I experienced complete peace in my heart. I knew God had brought us together and I felt his blessings over us. The day had finally arrived, and as I walked down the aisle and I exhaled, everything was right and perfect to give my life willingly to my husband. A moment of complete happiness as my father entrusted my husband with one of his most prized possessions.”
“His fondest memory was seeing me, his wife-to-be at the entrance. As the music began to play, the smile that was on my face lightened the room but his heart more. Seeing that great smile on my face, and how much I glowed, was the happiest moment of his life.”
““The First Kiss” shot was definitely my favourite image of the day. This shot sealed the deal for us, it was the moment we knew that we had given ourselves to each other, wholly, willingly, lovingly and faithfully. We were about to start a very important venture in our new life together as husband and wife.”
The newlyweds then made their way to their Reception with transport provided by Rroya Rolle, ready to party and have some fun with their loved ones.
Sometimes finding that one perfect dress, that is the true essence of you can be a challenging process. While in other instances, some girls get lucky and wind up finding their dream dress on the third try! *guilty*. And on this sweet day, Peadra just happened to be one of those very lucky ladies.
“My planner and cousin, Leshima and I went on a trip to West Palm Beach. The plan was for me to get away from the wedding duties and stress for the weekend, and enjoy the time with family members that lived there. While on this trip Leshima decided we should try on wedding dresses. I was honestly not enthused by the idea as I just wanted to relax. However I agreed. While in David’s Bridal, Coral Gables, we chose 5 dresses, which I tried on from the one we liked the least to the one we liked the most. Surprisingly the one we liked the least, was the one most liked and adored while fitting. Leshima almost cried as she said, “OMG I can picture you with your makeup and hair and your beautiful bouquet”. It was her comments, and the comments of those that stopped what they were doing in the store just to take a picture or tell me how beautiful the dress was on me that sealed the deal. I tried the other 4 dresses on, but of course none compared to the first, and the rest is history.”
The special day was captured by Braxton Gardiner Photography, whose work Peadra and Gerron were quite blown away with.
“Braxton was such an amazing photographer!! When reviewing my wedding day photos, tears of joy and happiness came to my eyes! I relived my special day all over again, just by looking at the great captures taken. I am very thankful that I chose Braxton Gardiner to capture these special moments. Love his personality! Talented and truly gifted!”
“The cake design was a bit tricky for us, I must admit. We looked at a great number of wedding cakes, and I realised that I enjoyed the different shapes and textures a cake could offer. The wedding cake was 7 tiers, having texture of lace and piping. The middle shapes were a mix of oval and trapezoid, to add some symmetry to the cake. The colors were navy and white with some orange colored flower accents. Once again topped with a cake topping saying “where ever you go I will”.”
“We invited 175 guests to our wedding, and I can say without a doubt that this was the most difficult part of the wedding preparations for us. Both of us come from large families, so therefore making this decision was surely a challenge, however we both agreed that we wanted an intimate wedding with close friends and family members. In thinking of this, we came to the conclusion that we would cap the count at 175, and ensure those who supported us the most were present.”
“Our first dance song was “Share my life” Kem. We simply fell for each other, and we caught each other, through every obstacle presented our way we supported each other. We realized that we are the ones, and we realized why we loved each other. Because of this Gerron asked me to share his life with him forever.”
“There was tribute made to us by the One Family Junkanoo Group. Live performances were also done by the Sky Juice Band, Blue Connection Band, Driftwood Band, and the Scorch Conch Rake ‘n’ Scrape Band. We enjoyed our very own Bahamian artists such as, Fanshawn Taylor, Blaudy, and Ebony Gibson. One of our guests even commented that “it was the best Bahamian event they have ever attended”. The music was perfect, and we danced and enjoyed every moment. We are very grateful to all of these persons who took part in making our day truly special.”
“We honeymooned in Orlando, but were initially supposed to honeymoon in Puerto Rico. However, due to a delay in flights, the airline was more than willing to accommodate us, and we stayed in Orlando for the duration of the trip. We had a wonderful and fun-filled time. We enjoyed watching our first live basketball game together, and the night life of the City walk, as we partied the night away within the Bob Marley restaurant. We also enjoyed spa treatments, and simply spending some alone time, enjoying the married life together. It was the start of an amazing journey to come.”
WEDDED ADVICE FOR THE NEWLY-ENGAGED COUPLES
