Unfortunately, hopping on a plane to Puerto Rico right now is a bit impossible for us due to the pandemic, but thankfully we can still live vicariously through the lens of our dear friend Jose Ruiz from Jose Ruiz Photography.
From the breathtaking mansion and glamorous wedding gowns to the groom’s contemporary attire and the luxurious decor, this romantic styled shoot designed by wedding planner Soirée by Karen is everything that your hearts could possibly desire for your European inspired destination wedding in the Caribbean.
We must say that it truly brought tears to our eyes to see this enchanting styled shoot in our inbox, since our sweet industry has been adversely affected by this pandemic. But it just shows that love is more powerful than anything in this world, and the wedding industry is here to stay.
So go forth my loves, and enjoy our feature of the week that truly shook us with its beauty, charm and love.
FROM THE WEDDING PLANNER:
When you think about Puerto Rico, the first thing that comes to mind is surely, ‘tropical’. This is a great start, but when you add a good dose of romance, uniqueness, history, and popular destination for uncovered treasures, it perfectly describes the intention of this shoot.
Puerto Rico offers a unique amalgam of culture and style. The Spanish colonial influence and European touch mixed with the boldness of the Caribbean is beautifully noticeable; making the island incredibly attractive for couples to host weddings. Due to the pandemic situation, intimate weddings have been rediscovered and redefined how us as creative event pros, celebrate love. Combined with a good dose or, just a hint of tradition, wedding style has taken new and original ways to feature what couples’ treasure most for their nuptials: uniqueness.
I have been wanting to do a shoot at this beautiful venue for a while. And no wonder it is named El Palacete de San José! Located in the center of Old San Juan, El Palacete, which means mansion, is truly a hidden gem that honors its name. A romantic, old-charm four-story house inspired by European architecture, luxury villas and of course, Puerto Rican vibe.
The first time I visited the property, I instantly fell in love with its richness, the intimate ambiance, diverse style, and the possibilities! I immediately understood why I was so drawn to it: I have a personal connection with the Fleur-de-Lis and, when I saw how beautifully it was displayed at The Palacete, I knew the venue had to be recaptured for weddings!
It was like arriving to a dream in the heart of Old San Juan or, as I started to call it, “paradise on the inside”. And, as amazing as it is on the inside, the outdoor space is just fantastic! With a contemporary look and feel and a heated 50-foot lap pool as part of the house’s amenities (an exceedingly rare commodity in Old San Juan properties), the full open space is so inviting, you just don’t want to go to the exit door.
A distinctive location to capture the essence of this shoot: Puerto Rican Intimate Wedding Glamour: Classic Romance Meets Local Contemporary Chic.
The fabulous shots and video captured, speak loudly. You can instantly perceive the natural colonial style, sense the touch of mahogany wood of the stair railings, and feel the air crispness inside this Caribbean oasis. The charming stationery along with the wonderful floral design lighted up the romantic color palette, combining the contemporary look of dehydrated arrangements in the ceremony space with traditional touches of floral nudes and pinks with hints of blue and gold at the intimate dinner table.
Simplicity blends with intricate touches of beautiful crystal ware, Baroque-look flat ware, and unusual-chic dinnerware for a perfect unmatched elegance.
We loved the various atmospheres the property provides with smooth transitions from space to space, presenting a main, cozy reception area with a treasure-filled library, bold art, and neutral-color couple’s area adorned with a one and only wedding cake. That ability to elegantly contrast throughout the complete wedding design is reflected on the fabulous couple. The bridal look with a one-of-a-kind locally handcrafted goddess tiara, beautiful dresses & veil, evolves effortlessly from charming traditional to evening glam along with a stylish but relaxed groom wearing exclusive local fashion.
Love is not cancelled. Puerto Rico’s wedding industry continues to offer the best for couples with unique style.
