Josephine and Chad got married in Grand Old House in the Cayman Islands. Their wonderful ceremony was held in the ideal spot for heavenly golden hour shots, and their first look shots taken by Chad Munro are some of the best that we have ever seen…we’re still getting goosebumps just thinking about them!
The bride’s dress had an Old Hollywood style to it that will blow you away, and her cute umbrella complemented her look so perfectly! The soft, succulent inspired decor definitely surprised us, and the bridal party was decked out in pretty pastel dresses and classic black tuxedos that rocked.
Are you ready to dive right in to this inspirational Jewish destination wedding from the Cayman Islands?

We met in our second year of college at University of Colorado in Boulder. We were neighbours on “the Hill.” We quickly found out that we had a lot in common. We spent many weekends going to concerts, snowboarding and hiking together.

We were in Fiji on a cruise of the Yasawa Islands. At the end of the cruise, Chad surprised me by taking me to Vomo, a luxury hotel on a private island. After a day of Scuba diving, hiking and kayaking, Chad arranged for a private dinner on the beach. At the end of the dinner, Chad got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes!

The aerial shot of us together in the field with the 1938 Packard is amazing! The photo looks vintage and the weather is so dramatic. It’s very unique.

We had 230 guests. We invited 400 and expected a little more than half. We couldn’t keep it small as we had to invite all our family and close friends, and we have a lot of very close friends and we both have large families.

I was in Southern California with my mother-in-law and grannie. We went to the White Dress to see a particular designer, but ended up meeting Alon Livne. He was at the store having a trunk show of his new collection. I didn’t know who he was at the time, but immediately fell in love with his dresses. He spent the morning with us helping me search for the perfect dress. The dress had this ‘old school Hollywood’ feeling to it, which is exactly what I wanted.

I borrowed a necklace from my sister. It was pear shaped, aquamarine and surrounded by diamonds. It went perfectly with my aquamarine earrings, which my step-mom gave me the week before the wedding for my birthday.

The groomsmen rented black tuxedoes and tuxedo shoes from the Black Tux. Chad provided them with funky socks and light blue bow ties to match the bridesmaids.

For the colours we chose grey-blues and light blues accented with rose gold details. We complemented these colours with succulents and lots of candles. We wanted the wedding vibes to be calm and relaxing to the eye, like the Caribbean Sea. We also choose succulents because you can replant them easily after you cut them. All of the succulents from the wedding are in about 12 different pots throughout the inside and outside of our home now. They are thriving!

We had a live painter, John Broad, which was a surprise gift to us from a group of friends. He painted our wedding ceremony and it turned out absolutely stunning. Also, my dad received a hand-rolled two-foot long cigar, which was quite a cool surprise (for him)!

WHAT IS THE FONDEST MEMORY FROM YOUR WEDDING?
Wife: I was so impressed when Groovement came on. Chad and I stayed on the dance floor together all night! It was so much fun dancing with my new husband! Every time I looked around, my friends and family were around us on the dance floor going crazy. It was like we were at a professional rock concert.
Husband: My favorite part of the wedding was doing the Horrah, which is a time for Jewish dancing and traditions. It was so much fun being hoisted up in the chairs with Josephine. After that I was put on a tablecloth and repetitively tossed into the air! It was a blast until I ripped down a string of lights. Then all of my groomsmen laid flat on the ground, side-by-side, and I had to run and jump over them. I cleared them without a problem! This is not a Jewish tradition, but fun nonetheless.

We are both science majors and love geology. Chad majored in geophysics and I have been collecting rocks and shells since I was a kid. Obviously we would have a geode cake!

The music was one of the most important items for our wedding. We both have a huge appreciation for live music, as we spent a lot of our relationships at concerts. We had 5 live musical acts: Marlon and Kate, Trinity, Loaded Peace, DJ Glenroy Murray and Groovement. Groovement was outrageously talented. They are a 6 piece groove and funk band we brought to Cayman from Arkansas. When they came on it felt like we were at a Stevie Wonder concert infused with Led Zepplin.

We are going to the Kakslauttanen Artic Resort in Finnland and Marrakesh, Morrocco…the North Pole and then the desert for our honeymoon. Since we live in the Caribbean we wanted to go somewhere totally different! We will be gone for 18 days and can’t wait!

Do you have Any advice for newly engaged couples?
If you are having a destination wedding, do an online RSVP that allows your guests to put in information about their flight, dietary and hotel information. We didn’t do this and wish we did!

Thank you so much to the lovely couple and Chad Munro from Picture this Studios for sharing this breathtaking wedding with us!
