Intimate and charming, this cozy Cabo San Lucas wedding was just as simple as it was stunning. There is so much to say about today’s sweet feature, from the colours to the wedding dress to the smashing decor, but what truly shines in the photographs is Liz and Rohan’s joy.
Their lovely story is too good not to check out darlings, so take a little morning break and enjoy our Friday feature with Events by Bliss!
HOW THEY MET
“We first met one evening in June 2010 at a local bar, Serafino’s. Rohan asked to buy me a drink; I gladly accepted. While at the bar, to avoid an awkward encounter with an acquaintance, I asked Ro to pretend to be my boyfriend if this person came over; Ro happily agreed, and for the first time, Rohan was introduced as my boyfriend.
We left separately that evening without exchanging numbers. As fate would have it, we met again a few months later at a recreational flag football game. I sat on the turf watching the boys warm up. Rohan jokingly asked me, “Isn’t it ironic I can’t sit that way?!?!” It took Liz a few seconds, or maybe a minute, and then, Rohan helped her to understand the joke by saying “your sitting Indian style and I am Indian. Get it?” says Liz.
“Rohan proposed to me in our home one Friday evening. Rohan’s proposal was perfect; private, personal and intimate. Rohan decorated the basement with candles, lights, and rose petals. Rohan enticed me to go to the basement where he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. After I said yes, we shared the evening together and went to dinner at Chef P’s, formerly Serafino’s, the restaurant, where we first met.”
“We come from two different cultures; instead of having two weddings, or combining a Catholic and Hindu ceremony, we wanted to start our marriage with one wedding. We decided to have a non-denominational, beach theme wedding in Mexico. My wedding colors were navy blue and blush pink. I thought the color scheme was simple, yet beautiful and classy.” says Liz.
“Truthfully, when I started planning my destination wedding, I didn’t know where to start and did a few things backwards. The first thing I did backwards was I started with finding a resort which had our dates available, and then went to find a photographer. After speaking with a local photographer, she recommended hiring an independent wedding coordinator and suggested Bonnie. Bonnie at Bliss Events by Bonnie Chase made the planning process so easy for me, that I never stressed about the wedding details. Since I had never been to Mexico, I relied on her expertise and recommendations. She communicated regularly, provided her advice and recommendations, and handled me and the entire wedding seamlessly. I couldn’t have been happier or made a better decision than hiring Bonnie.”
“The entire day was special and memorable; it’s so hard to pick one special moment. However, if I had to pick one special moment, it would be standing up at the altar with just Rohan (and Diego, our wedding officiant). We decided not to have a wedding party, because we wanted to keep the day focused on just the two of us. Standing up at the altar, just the two of us, in front of our family and friends, sharing our story and vows was the most memorable moment for us.”
“The wedding reception was held at the Ocean Breeze Deck, on the beach. The gazebo decor was beautiful and classy with chiffon drapery and lights to lighten up the gazebo ceiling and the centerpieces were tall, gold candelabras with a beautiful marsala, pink, and white floral arrangements. We offered our guests either Tequila shrimp with Steamed Rice, Grilled Vegetables or a breast of Chicken with Rosemary-Olive Oil, with lemon-risotto, broccoli and cauliflower.” says Liz.
