As far as we are concerned, Kristal and Admir’s beach nuptials in Mexico was the epitome of chic. Sun-drenched and dripping in Burgundy, this gorgeous destination wedding had such an amazing colour scheme, unique decor elements that you won’t want to miss, and of course reception decor filled with just the right amount of florals to make you swoon!
The duo enjoyed every bit of their day and couldn’t thank their wedding vendor team enough for bringing all of their ideas to life. It is no simple task to plan a destination wedding from hundreds of miles away, but with the right team, you can definitely make it happen and have memories to last you a lifetime.
Special thank you to the team behind the lens, Cossu Photography for sharing this couple’s big day with us and check out their thoughts on Kristal and Admir’s wedding below:
This adoring couple met during college and have been growing and learning together ever since! They love to travel and explore different parts of the world and learn from different cultures. When they are not traveling, they love to stay in and enjoy a good movie while petting their 2 babies (cuddly cats)!!!
We had an amazing time celebrating their beach-front wedding at Hacienda del Secreto. Their January wedding was a perfect way to ring in a new decade, and for them, start a new chapter of their lives full of even more love and adventures.
FROM THE COUPLE:
HOW THEY MET & THE PROPOSAL
We met in freshman year of college and have been inseparable since then. We love to travel and learn about anything that is new and unknown to us. We are both of different cultures and backgrounds and we love to learn about different cultures and their amazing cuisines. The proposal was intimate and very thoughtful. My husband surprised me by setting up a huge hiking tent inside of our apartment and decorated with balloons, fairy lights and beautiful flowers. It was a perfect response to my recent hiking obsession. I spent weeks prior to the proposal asking for a hiking trip and he responded by surprising me with this set up along with the promise of a future hiking trip as now we are committed with our own tent!
Since we were traveling all the way to Mexico with 50 of our closest family and friends, we wanted everyone and us included to enjoy the beautiful views that Playa Del Carmen has to offer. The backdrop of our ceremony was Playa del Secreto with sweeping views of the ocean and white sand. We wanted our ceremony and reception to have a rustic and laid back feel so we incorporated lots of wood furniture to go with the authentic Mexican feel of the venue. We decorated with fresh colours of ivory, burgundy and lush green to compliment the rustic and natural elements.
We kept minimal decorations to highlight the beautiful simplicity of our beach wedding. Our floral vendor created a tremendous ceremony arch with fresh roses of our color palette. We decorated our reception with long floral centerpieces with soft candle light with gold menus and accessories.
Flowers were a crucial part in our wedding. It brought freshness and life in to a still space. Flowers are very versatile and are available in so many colors and this can really help bring a personalized unique look to compliment any space. I specifically wanted my bridal bouquet to have a tropical touch and my florist brought my vision to life by including this HUGE beautiful blush pink king protea in my asymmetric bouquet. I love my bridal bouquet and was very sad to finally have to leave it behind to travel home.
THE BRIDAL FASHION
My dress was low maintenance which is what I wanted for my beach wedding. I wanted to be able to dance all night without having to worry about what I had on. My husband chose a bold daring burgundy color so he can stand out above the rest. Our ivory and burgundy combo added a rustic feel that complimented our wedding theme.
We truly wanted to enjoy everything that Mexico has to offer and chose menu items that were locally sourced or themed. We wanted an authentic feel to our wedding and purposely choose menu items to reflect that. We added churros as a delicious dessert snack and late night tacos for after party. I was overwhelmed by how much positive feedback I received on our caterer. All of our guests complimented on how amazing the servers were and how they made sure that everyone had a drink in hand all night.
THE MOST ANTICIPATED MOMENT
The most special moment of our wedding day was our vows. We planned every detail of our wedding together as a couple so we knew what to expect during the day but the vows were truly special and unknown to each of us. It was really special to be able to share our commitment to each other in front of our family and friends.
ANY PLANNING ADVICE FOR NEWLY-ENGAGED COUPLES?
I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner or even a day-of wedding coordinator. I truly would not have had such a stress free wedding day without the help of my planners. I think it so important to be able to enjoy your wedding day so any help that you can get on the day of is a MUST!
Special thank you to Kristal and Admir for sharing their lovely destination wedding with us!
