It must be said that we are continuously inspired by the resilience of couples who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. It just shows that love will continue to win…no matter the circumstance, and for that we are eternally thankful.
Kimberley and Brandon truly endured after having to adjust their plans three times before they finally said “I do”. They had so many challenges to face, as do so many others during this uncertain time, but after everything, their special day ended up being so much more beautiful and memorable than they could ever imagined.
With the help of their amazing wedding planner Nichelle from Designs by Nishy, they were able to source some of the very best wedding professionals in Miami to execute their dream wedding. It was magical and all that you feel from their photographs is love.
Read on for some sweet words from the lovely bride, Kimberley…
FROM THE BRIDE:
My best friend who is a mutual friend introduced us remotely. I was living in Holland at the time and he was in Jamaica.
We were in Negril, Jamaica on a surprise getaway weekend Brandon planned for my birthday at one of the most quaint and beautiful cliff side properties I’d ever been to. We had a cute bungalow right on the cliffside with an amazing view and such crystal-clear turquoise waters below aka Paradise.
Brandon told me we were going for dinner so I should get dressed. Up until this point as far as I was concerned, he had really put some thought and planning into this for my birthday. As we were getting ready and I was about to put on my slippers, I noticed he pulled out his “fancy dress up shoes” and I remember saying “oh we’re dressing up, ok I’ll wear heels then” (I was thankful for this later on lol) – still not suspicious at all. As we were walking towards the main part of the resort, he directed me toward a different path, as we walked further and I looked up I saw this beautiful candle lit walkway leading out to a gazebo out on the cliff side, decorated with lights and balloons. I froze, I remember thinking, OMG I can’t believe he went and did all of this (feeling so special, still thinking this is for my birthday which was the following day.)
At dinner he played some music on his phone, some old school R&B (to set the mood lol), we talked and had dinner, the food was great. I suggested we ask the waitress to take a picture of us, which she did and then he says “we should take a picture standing up” It was at this point I got suspicious. I suspected something was up, I’m usually the one leading the picture moments. I remember looking at him thinking, wait, you want us to stand up and take more pics? Who are you? Lol – Little did I know this was all part of the plan.
We took one picture and I turned to one side to change our position a bit and when I turned around, there he stood, with a ring box in his hand and proceeded to get on one knee. I was speechless and the tears of joy started flowing, I of course said yes, in between the tears of joy.
My dress was gorgeous and I fell in love the moment I put it on. It was ivory with embossed lace, nude undertone, fitted with a sweetheart off the shoulder neckline, cut outs on the side and a gorgeous train with tons of detailing, designer – Mark Thornburg. His suit was a beautiful navy blue Ted Baker suit, fitted, light material with a blush pink tie and white dress shirt.
THE SHOPPING EXPERIENCE
This was our third time planning our wedding because of the pandemic and all challenges faced. Nichelle from Designs by Nishy really came through for us. We planned our wedding in a little over 2 weeks. Nichelle had helped us to source vendors in Miami who were all amazing. She even put us on to a few sites where we could purchase items at a discounted rate which really helped us out. I already had my dress, shoes, headpiece and veil but Brandon still had to get his suit, which he got 1 week before the wedding! Thankfully it was perfect. As stressful as it was having to go through wedding shopping 3 times, the third time was the charm. Everything worked out the way it was meant to be and the wedding turned out beautifully!
The moment I walked down the aisle and saw Brandon’s reaction, that was such a special moment that I will remember and reminisce about for the rest of our lives.
GIFT IDEAS FOR BRIDAL PARTY
For my bridesmaids I had gotten them natural pearl bracelets from a trip I made to Palma, Spain (I had a matching one for myself as well) and we paired them up with robes. For the groomsmen we gave them some personalized wooden engraved boxes with a cigar, clipper and a mini bottle of Patron, for the best man we added in a torch for the cigar as well.
ADVICE FOR NEWLY-ENGAGED COUPLES?
Don’t sweat the small things. Focus on what truly matters. It’s not about the wedding, it’s about the marriage. Make sure you enjoy every moment!
Thank you to Kimberley, Brandon and Designs by Nishy for sharing this gorgeous wedding with us!
