When it came to planning their destination wedding in The Bahamas, Allison and Sebastian knew that they wanted to incorporate all the little details that truly mattered to them, and they did just that. With their combined love for travel, beauty and bunnies, (yes we said “bunnies”), they created their dream beach wedding surrounded by their special out of town guests and loved ones who basked in their charming Caribbean setting.

Thank you to Dede Brown Wedding Photography for sharing their beautiful album with us, and Allison & Sebastian for making our hearts extremely happy while editing!

“Yes, it was love at first sight! My husband was (and is) actually a very shy person, so I ended up making the first move. He’s so glad I felt the same way about him, that he did about me!”

Husband: Favourite Moment

“My favorite memory was the instant I saw my future wife walking toward me on the beach. We decided against doing a first-look (so she ended up doing the “first look” with her father before the ceremony) and it was a little nerve-wracking just standing there waiting, but as soon as I caught sight of her all of that nervousness went away.

Wife: Favourite Moment

“My favorite memory is from the reception. I wanted to incorporate some Korean traditions and one of my Aunts who flew in from Korea brought with her traditional wedding outfits for us to wear, called Hanboks. We changed into these and did a little tea ceremony to honor our parents, where we also offered them bowls of chestnuts and dates, which symbolized children. Our parents then had to throw the chestnuts and dates at me while I tried to catch them in the skirt of my Hanbok. Each date and chestnut caught symbolized how many sons and daughters we’d have together – I ended up catching 9 of each!”

“There were a few hiccups – things running behind schedule, guests being dropped off at the reception site instead of the ceremony site at the beginning – but thankfully, there were absolutely no issues with the thing I was most concerned about (weather) for an outdoor beach wedding. It ended up being such a beautiful day with barely a cloud in the sky.”

“I did a lot of DIY for the wedding, which took a lot of time and was very stressful at times, but was very worth it in the end. Every piece of decoration showcased something that meant a lot to us, whether it was our love of travel, food, and cooking, or our pet bunny.”

“Our wedding colors were mint green and gold, we wanted colors that would complement the beach/island setting, but still stand out a little. As for a theme, we didn’t really have one set theme – we kind of just tried to incorporate all the things that were important to us. We have a pet bunny (now 2, recently adopted a second one!) and since we obviously weren’t able to bring her with us to the island, we tried to use as many bunny-related decorations throughout – photos of her, bunny placecard holders, bunny cake toppers, etc. And since we both love to travel we selected a travel/passport themed stationery set for the invitation suite and included a customized world map in lieu of the traditional guestbook.”

“I bought my dress at my very first dress shopping date! I wasn’t determined to buy a dress right away and actually had a second appointment booked at a different store for weeks later, thinking I probably wouldn’t find one so quickly. I had tried on about 6-7 dresses and finally it was my dress, and I knew it was mine because I kept wanting to stare at myself in the mirror and didn’t want to take it off!”

“There’s a black and white photo of us from after the reception that has to be my favourite. It’s a little blurry but we’re the focus, surrounded by some of our dancing friends as we’re hugging/dancing with each other. I don’t even remember the picture being taken or what exactly we’re doing or saying to each other, but it always brings a smile to my face and reminds me of what an amazing, fun night we had.”

“Our musical selections were “Pachelbel’s Canon in D” for the processional, “Israel Kamakawiwo’ole – Somewhere Over the Rainbow” for the recessional and “Otis Redding – That’s How Strong My Love Is” for our first dance.”

“Since we were having a destination wedding we decided to delay our honeymoon to give us time to plan, save up vacation time to take a longer trip, and be able to enjoy it more. Our one rule when deciding where to go was that it had to be a place neither of us had ever been to. We decided on Tokyo, Japan and Bangkok and Koh Tao in Thailand. Japan, because it’s such an amazing city with so much to explore, and delicious food! And true to our bunny-loving selves, we made sure to make it to Hiroshima to visit Okunoshima Island, the one and only island inhabited by rabbits! We picked Thailand because we figured we would need a more relaxing warm-weather locale after all the sightseeing in Tokyo.”

“My advice for newly engaged couples would be to enjoy every little moment because everything will go by so quickly. And as difficult as it may seem, don’t stress too much because in the end it’ll all work out the way it should.”

A very big thank you to the lovely Allison & Sebastian for allowing us to share their sweet love story with our destination loving brides-to-be, and of course a huge thank you to the wonderful Dede of Dede Brown Photography for these amazing images!
