Destination Weddings are everything to us here at Adriana Wed, that’s why we go can’t help but go absolutely crazy whenever we get the opportunity to meet and feature another adorable couple who decided to take this route. From their very first date, Abby and Jeff knew that they had something special. With their visions aligned, they decided to tie the knot in Cancun, Mexico surrounded by loved ones and a whole lot of fun! Now we may be a bit biased when it comes to destination weddings *guilty*, but these two lovebirds definitely threw the party of a lifetime in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and we are so delighted to share their wedding day in Mexico with you all today! Read on for more from our gorgeous bride Abby.
FROM THE LOVELY BRIDE:
Jeff and I planned our beach wedding on our first date! It turned out that we had always had a dream of getting married barefoot on the beach. The conversation came up on our first date and everything was perfectly aligned from the very beginning.
Before planning we knew we wanted to get married right on the beach with a simple yet elegant setup. As for the dinner, I was thinking a structure with lights, but didn’t know much more about what options were available. Our main color was royal blue, but we had touches of blush and gold. I knew I wanted to do a rustic vintage chic vibe.
I couldn’t decide if I wanted to do lanterns or chandeliers, so I did them both! I went with Mexican Calla lilies for the bride and bridesmaids bouquets. I wanted something simple yet classy. I wanted the Hoopa where we were getting married to be full of flowers. I went with subtle blush and cream colors to not distract from the beautiful chandelier and setting.
We wanted something special to thank our bridal party for all their hard work, so for the Bridesmaids I did Yeti Tumblers with custom engraving from Mile High Engravers and silk robes from Etsy. Jeff did Artic Tumblers with custom engraving for the groomsman. Since we were in Mexico the party favors were easy to decide on. We created custom shot glasses and added a little bottle of tequila, a lime, and salt. We also added custom koozies, lip balm with SPF, a small bottle of 30 SPF, hand sanitizer, and an itinerary of the events.
As for my dress…as soon as I put my dress on for the first time I knew it was the one! It was sexy, strapless, and ruffles on the train for days. Since the train had so many layers to it, I decided to alter it and have it zip off after the ceremony and photos. This way it was easier to bustle for dinner and dancing.
My favorite moment of the day was seeing Jeff for the first time. You are never prepared for how you will feel in that moment. Leading up to the wedding I was 100% confident I was not going to cry. When I came down the aisle, he saw me and teared up which made it impossible for me not too. My favorite detail of the wedding had to be all of the chandeliers. They also made great backgrounds for photos!
The most important thing I could say to future brides is, try not to stress too much. Getting married in Mexico is a little more difficult because everyone is on “beach time”. I wasn’t able to communicate with my coordinator over the phone, just via email. I thought that I wasn’t well prepared, but when it came down to the day, everything turned out perfectly!
Thank you so much Dekker Photography and the sweet couple for sharing this gorgeous album with us!
