Last week my team and I had the opportunity to go to The Bahamas for the Five Seasons Bridal Runway 2017, and a mini vacation ofcourse! It was our first time there, so we were extremely thrilled about it as you could probably imagine! My family had been to the island a couple years before, and had told me about how amazing Atlantis is, and how blown away I am going to be when I see it all, and they were 100% accurate!
For years I had dreamt of visiting the island, and definitely had it down as a MUST visit on my bucket list, and I finally got a chance to tick that bad boy off this year! *yay*
WHERE TO STAY?
We stayed at Coral Towers, Atlantis in The Bahamas for the week, and did not regret it whatsoever. Our room was lovely, and our view of the hotel, parks, and beach (yes guys, the beach too) was AMAZING! We pretty much took pictures every single morning while we were there to post on our Insta Stories because well… we just HAD to! The staff was also very friendly and kind, and assisted with any and everything.
There are five main resorts in Atlantis – The Cove, The Reef Atlantis, Royal Towers, Coral Towers and Atlantis Beach Tower. The Cove and The Reef are a little more luxurious, if you’re feeling for that extra bit of finesse and the Royal Towers are just as outstanding and a bit more affordable. We decided to stay at the Coral Towers since it is a little distance away from all the action. In as much as we’re all about the fun, we were there for work as well, so we tried our best to be responsible. 🙂
WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE THERE?
The options are endless in this magical place. From water sports such as kayaking and wind surfing to island tours and live shows, Atlantis offers an extensive list of recreational activities for your delight.
During the day, we went to the beach, snorkeled, rested a bit, took the most epic rides ever on the Rapids and then decided to go on one of the slides that nearly ended my life (a bit dramatic, but OMG) on our second day.
Our evenings in The Bahamas were also just as sweet with live music being played in the Marina Village, and Bahamian mas players having a ball showcasing the Bahamian costumes from Junkanoo Carnival.
As Junkanoo took place just a couple weeks prior to our arrival, the hotel had live performances to educate and encourage the visitors to return next year for Carnival, and I am pretty sure that they will be after seeing the spectacular display of artistry and fun!
WHERE TO EAT?
If you’re a food lover like we are, then you will absolutely adore the variety of restaurants available. For breakfast, we enjoyed croissants, tea, sandwiches and a few sweet treats from Starbucks and Quiznos.
Interested in a fine dining experience? We checked out Nobu, Chop Stix, and Bahamian Club – all of which were out of this world. For Casual Dining during the day, we ate at Brats and Balls, which was by far one of the best restaurants on Paradise Island, serving hot dogs, sausages, chips and the juiciest pork ribs I have ever had in my life. We also checked out Cave Grill where I dabbled in some salmon heaven – a definite must!
For my special night with Say Yes To The Dress CEO Monte Durham, the Owner of Five Seasons Bridal and her lovely assistant, and a few other specially invited guests, we dined at 77 degrees West.
To say that I was completely blown away by this restaurant in The Bahamas would be an understatement, so I will just say that it was one of the best nights of my career thus far. I felt honored, humbled and blessed to be a part of that night.
WHAT TO PACK?
Since The Bahamas is a beautiful Caribbean island, the weather is usually warm and sunny. The hurricane season lasts from June 1st to November 30th, so travelling to the island during this time would not be the best, but since its during Summer time, you probably won’t be able to help that. Note that most days will be gorgeous and sunny, so no need to worry too much.
Due to this, pack as many bathing suits as heavenly possible! Shop a bit before you travel, and get some cute flip-flops, sun tan lotion and ofcourse sexy bathing suits from Suga Apple Swim in Barbados and from Trinbagonian designer Marie Collette. Also don’t forget to stop off and get a couple luxurious wraps from Bikini Cabana, and Forever 21 if you’re coming from the US. Think any and everything luxurious beach wear, and have fun.
Also, there’s a considerable amount of walking in Atlantis to get from one hotel to the next for the tours, rides, etc. so make sure that you pack comfortable shoes, as we definitely did a LOT of walking. For the evening stroll, or fine dining experience, you can pack one or two heels, just in case.
The Bahamian Dollar is dollar for dollar with the US, so carrying US cash with you is advised. Atlantis is one of the top tourist destinations in the world, so budget to suit since you will want to go on a few rides, and truly experience all that it has to offer. If going for your honeymoon, make sure and book for at least four nights, as you will definitely enjoy the island more, and have amazing stories to tell when you return home.
The Bahamas is one of the most gorgeous places in the world, and Atlantis is everything that you have ever imagined and so much more. If you’re on the fence about going, don’t be! You need to enjoy your beautiful life, and travel to the Caribbean!
Till next time darlings,
