In our line of work, you could just imagine the types of love stories that we hear about on a daily basis. From the 10 year long distance relationships to the 2 month relationships where the couple met on a cruise ship and instantly clicked. Yes, we hear it all. And somehow, every single time that we hear a new one, our feelings are the same – pure love and joy. It’s amazing how much we love LOVE, and how excited we get every time we get the opportunity to share another love story with you all.
Aursland and Camille met at a fundraiser while attending college in California. Though their first interaction may not have been love at first sight, it just shows that sometimes God has a different plan for us. The proposal was intimate and classy, and their wedding was simply awe-inspiring. Take a look at our feature of the week from the beautiful Bahamas, and happy Wedding Wednesday loves!
“We went to the same college in Missouri. She was on the college basketball team from California and I was on the college track team from the Bahamas. We met at a fundraiser where the two teams had collaborated in 2011, and our very first conversation was actually an argument. HA!”
“I was very nervous when planning the proposal. I flew her out to the Bahamas for New Years 2015. We had a private dinner on a dock at Compass Point Beach Resort, and I got a friend to come and sing to her. As she turned around, I was on one knee, as the sun started to set on the ocean.”
“We had 80 guests at our wedding. It could have been much more due to the fact that I am from the Bahamas, but we opted to have a smaller wedding so that the numbers on each side would not be imbalanced as her family had to travel from California and everyone could not make it.”
The groom wore a very classic blue suit, bow tie and Stacy Adams single monk strap shoes.
“The dress was chosen by my Camille’s grandmother. She usually solicits her advice for important decisions she has to make, and in this case she made the BEST choice.”
FONDEST MEMORIES FROM THE WEDDING:
Wife: “Dancing and reconnecting with my mother.”
Husband: “Her walking toward me for the first time with her grandfather.”
“We decided to have a beach themed wedding, as the venue was situated near the ocean with lots of amazing seashells.”
“My favourite image (the bride) would be the one of him standing over me as I sat down on the rock by the beach. He leaned over and kissed me, as the sun fell in the background.”
“Our first dance song was “Made a way” by Travis Greene. It was rough as we are from two different places, so there were not only cultural differences but after college he moved to Philadelphia and I still had a year left in school. He moved back to the Bahamas in 2015 and I moved back to California. We had a long distance relationship for 3 years all together until he decided to drop everything and move to the US in 2017 to be with me. We also went through a year long struggle to get his immigration paperwork sorted out, so it was certainly a miracle that things worked out for us.”
ANY ADVICE FOR NEWLY-ENGAGED COUPLES?
“Compromise over pride. You are no longer one, and you should enter marriage with the expectancy of spending the rest of your lives together as your vows stated. You must take your partner’s thoughts, dreams and wants into consideration as you expect yours to be taken into consideration. You are now one so they are now “our” thoughts, dreams and wants. Lastly, “comfort is the killer of progress”, so never get comfortable. Always find new ways to express your love for one of another.”
