Allison and Manny snuck away to beautiful Cancun, Mexico to plan their elopement where the found the perfect spot to exchange their vows.
They really wanted something simple, sweet and 100% them and thats exactly what they were able to achieve for their wedding day.
This Cancun, Mexico elopement is ideal for couples looking for some adventure! These two decided against all of the fancy decor and instead chose a setting that was simply designed, unique and lovely. The bride dressed up in the most STUNNING Rue de Seine wedding dress, and they said, “I do” in the way that they always dreamed they would.
FROM THE COUPLE:
We met at work. We were both hired into the same department at the same time.
The proposal was completely spontaneous and unexpected! It was a Saturday and I was in the middle of a workout at home when he said “I’ll be right back” and went outside. When he came back he asked me to come over to him, which I did (after I asked “now??” since I was still actively working out lol!) and he picked me up and spun me around. He sat down and pulled me into his lap and asked if I would marry him. Of course I said yes, and then he pulled the most beautiful ring out of his pocket and gave it to me. We had a hot air balloon ride scheduled later that month that he originally was planning on asking me at,but he couldn’t wait once he had the ring. That excitement, passion, and spontaneity suits us perfectly.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO ELOPE?
We wanted to keep the focus on each other and on our love, and felt like a small ceremony someplace beautiful was more our style than something more large and formal.
We knew we wanted to have an outdoor wedding, so first we had to choose between desert, mountain, forest, or beach. Once we had settled on the beach the idea of Mexico popped up. Tulum had been on my bucket list for a while and a friend recommended a resort in Cancún, which was close enough for a day trip to Tulum. We started looking at pictures of the resort and of the beach in Cancún and that same adventurous spirit and spontaneity kicked in. We just ran with the idea and it turned out to be such a magical experience!
THE WEDDING DRESS
Thank you! I wish I could live in dresses by this designer, they all sing to me. I knew for sure Rue de Seine was the designer for me. I’d been following their posts on Instagram for forever after seeing them tagged in a photoshoot for an indie jewelry designer I follow and falling in love with the aesthetic. There was only one store in town that carried them, and I called the next day to book an appointment asap. think I tried on about 6 dresses in the store that day, all by Rue de Seine. The one I chose (the East gown) wasn’t on my original try-on list but it was so beautiful in person I decided to try it on on a whim. Once it was on I knew it was the one. The details and the fit were just incredible. I had a good friend with me and her reaction confirmed it.
THE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Actually the dress led me to our photographer, again on Instagram. While I waited for my dress to arrive I was constantly looking at pictures tagged with its name. One that took my breath away I noticed had been taken in a nearby town, so I looked into the photographer. I was pleasantly surprised to see she specialized in elopements and destination weddings, and we both agreed that her eye and her style were just jaw dropping. We knew she would capture our memories in a beautiful and authentic way, and she absolutely did! We couldn’t be happier with how our photos turned out.
ANY ADVICE FOR NEWLY-ENGAGED COUPLES?
Enjoy the process and love each other wildly! It can be a hectic time but remember what’s important – your love for each other – and it all becomes a magical whirlwind. If it suits your style, we incorporated some elements in our ceremony decor that are now part of our home decor – such as a beautiful blanket we stood on during the ceremony in the sand and beaded tassel drapes that helped frame the ocean behind us. The tassel drapes now grace a wall in our house and the blanket keeps us cozy on the couch, and both will always remind us of that beautiful day. I think it lends a little extra everyday magic to the home we are building together!
Thank you so much to Allison, Manny and Amber Dawn Photography for sharing this intimate elopement with us.
