A Cozy Beach Destination Wedding at Pigeon Island National Park

Fun fact: My husband and I went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon back in 2015 and then re-visited a couple years later because it was one of the best trips we ever took as a couple. 🙂 Guess that’s why I am always partial to destination weddings from this gorgeous island. It will always hold a special place in my heart and I cannot wait to return and go snorkelling by The Pitons!

For today’s feature, we’re taking you to this awe-inspiring country for the wedding of December and Claude. The photograph of December and her mom is definitely one of our faves from the album, and it just got better with her bridesmaid shots, ceremony photos and omg to the couple photographs before they headed off their incredible fete! There is so much to love about this wedding, and I think what makes it that much sweeter is that both the bride and groom are from the Caribbean. UHH, we love.

FROM THE WEDDING PLANNER:

HOW THEY MET

The couple met in New York. The bride originally came from St. Lucia and the groom is Haitian. They met when December was selling a couch as she was meant to move abroad and Claude came to buy it. They were both in relationships and went their own ways afterwards. December never moved and they bumped into each other a few years later and ended up going for a drink which was the beginning of this beautiful relationship.

THE WISH LIST FOR THE COUPLE

Fun but formal. They both have vibrant, amazing personalities and wanted to ensure these were part of the big day! They wanted to give each ‘part’ of the wedding its’ own mood, the ceremony – soft and romantic, the dinner- elegant & chic and the party – a FETE! They wanted simple but memorable, chic & personal.

THE WEDDING VENUE

They had already chosen it when hiring me. They loved the ruins and the history behind them. With guests coming from the U.S, they wanted an ocean view and option of beach reception within the same venue to reduce the need for transfers.

THE WEDDING DRESS

December took every guest’s breath away with her gorgeous dress, including the vendors and especially myself on the day. She looked incredible. She had to ensure that the dress would work for the romantic, more traditional ceremony but would also allow her to party later on. The dress was so special, it had its’ own seat on the airplane going over (not joking, the airline row of 3 was December, Claude … and the dress).

SPECIAL REQUESTS FROM THE COUPLE

The main request was to include their dogs into the big day somehow, one being a late pet who passed and the other at home in New York. Because of pet quarantine & the practicalities of being in a resort, etc. they were unable to bring their dog to St. Lucia for the big day, so we added elements of both Chloe & CS into the stationary and named the signature cocktails after them with illustrations of each on the menus.

They also wanted their wedding to be highly personal given the number of weddings that take place in the venue and the number of weddings their guests had been to. They didn’t want it remembered as just another wedding and we wanted to ensure their wonderful story was part of the big day. We added short, fun facts about the couple, their journey and themselves as individuals to the cocktail menus and had carefully selected music to reflect the couple and their personalities.

FAVOURITE MOMENTS FROM THE COUPLE’S SPECIAL DAY

Witnessing the love these two people have for one another was inspiring- I see a LOT of weddings and this one stood out for me because they genuinely adore one another so much. That made every single moment in the wedding memorable, Claude’s face as he turned and saw December in the aisle was just amazing!

The fete however- these people danced and partied like no group we’ve ever had before. Every member of staff, every barman and even the venue security were buzzing and in awe of the electric atmosphere at that event.

On a personal level- gaining two new friends. December has become a great & valued friend to me. We clicked from the second we sat down at the first consultation and once Covid-19 calms down we can’t wait to have her back here for a visit!
