When it comes to planning for a wedding, whether large or small, forgetting the last minute details is all part of the game. You make countless to do lists, and contact every bridesmaid to ensure that everyone is on the same page, to then end up misplacing the groom’s tie or even forgetting the bouquets home.

We know how it goes, but it’s so understandable because it’s a very special day, and one that you will definitely remember for the rest of your life. Our best advice would be to breathe darling because everything will be ok, and take note that at the end of it all, every little mishap will make for a good story.

1. PACK AN EMERGENCY KIT

Pack an emergency wedding kit with the essentials for your day. Include a tide pen for your white dress, oil control make up wipes, mints, tampons, deodorant, fragrance, an extra face powder and lipstick (a must).

2. PREPARE FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER

With Caribbean weddings, the weather is unfortunately unpredictable. The forecast may read sunny with intermittent showers the day before, and on the day, a thunderstorm hits flooding out your entire event. Just in case, stock up on a few umbrellas for you and your guests, and maybe even a second pair of shoes for you so that you won’t get your new Louboutin’s destroyed.

3. HAVE YOUR VENDOR CONTACT INFORMATION ON HAND

If you’ve already hired a wedding planner for your special day, then this option won’t be a problem. But for those lovely brides who opted out of this category, please do ensure that someone close to you will have a list of all the wedding vendors and their contact information on hand! Stick it in a handbag, or in a groomsman’s jacket and make it clear who will be in charge of contacting a company or individual in case anything goes south.

4. GET READY FOR THE WATER WORKS

Whether in your groom’s pocket or maid of honour’s hand, remember to have a little hanky on board for when the tears begin to flow. Though natural and utterly beautiful in the moment, you won’t want the rest of your pictures to be ruined by smudged makeup.

5. SECURE THE RINGS

Though easily forgotten in the excitement of the day, forgetting the rings is something you definitely won’t want to do on your wedding day. Make sure that the best man has got them secured and locked in his pocket so that when the moment comes, that you won’t have the need to go completely insane trying to locate them.

6. DELEGATE, DELEGATE, DELEGATE

“The biggest thing that brides to be should do on their special day is relax. Try your best to remember that you chose and hired a group of experienced wedding professionals to make your dreams come to life. Trust in them, and try not to micro manage everything. The day passes by so quickly so you wouldn’t want to waste it by doing that.” Camille, Wedding Planner.

7. BE KIND

Whatever you do, try not to be late. “What I suggest to most of our brides, is to communicate every detail of the wedding day to their bridal party at least 30 minutes before the actual scheduled time (prior to the day), so that every member will be early. Trust me when I say that your guests will thank you for your kindness and consideration of them when you arrive early to both your Ceremony and Reception.” Elisa Clarke, Editor-in-Chief.

8. HAVE A LITTLE DRINK

With all the beauty and stress that comes with wedding planning, it’s integral to remember to still have fun with your girls and guys on your big day. Pack a little cooler the night before, and make a toast on the day to give thanks for the new journey that you are about to embark on. It will not only be a nice moment to remember, but one that will relax you a bit as well before you walk down the aisle.

9. THE EXTRAS

Ask your decorator to organise a few extra linens, in the event that someone has a little accident, or make certain that your chosen venue has a backup generator in case of an electricity outage.

10. PAUSE AND PRAY

Pray for:

  • An earnest and passionate desire for your spouse.
  • Selfless love to drive your emotions and actions.
  • Energy and the ability to be present.
  • God’s will to be done in your marriage.

Hey friends! Now we want to hear from you. What did you forget to do on your wedding day? Left any of our 10 options above out?
