We haven’t shared an Engagement shoot on the Blog in a little while, and it’s often because there are so many gorgeous Real Weddings that grace our inbox on a weekly basis. But today…TODAY…we decided to hit pause on our obsession with weddings to bring to you a little dose of Engagement love that will definitely put a smile on your face.
Shot by one of our Adriana Wed members Stanlo Photography, this destination shoot is one that certainly caught our eye! Enjoy lovebirds 🙂
“From our first interaction, we both knew that we would be together. It went beyond what we saw and what we felt, we simply knew that God was bringing us together.”
THEIR LOVE STORY:
“God divinely orchestrated it; the obedience of a mutual connection brought us together. Two days prior I had made a promise to God that I would not seek another relationship, but that I’d find total satisfaction in Him, but He had other plans. Unbeknownst to me Guido was researching me and guess what!? He found me (not just on Facebook), he really found me!
From our first interaction I knew that there was something different about him. I instantly wanted to know all about this Guido. But it was at that moment that I knew that I’d be marrying him someday, sounds crazy right? But it’s true, he took a little longer to come around. I’m kidding!”
“For many years I prayed to God, as a single young man, believing that He would open my eyes to the woman He choose for me. It ONLY took 28 years 🙂 … We met through a trusted friend and brother, who I spoke to weeks prior, jokingly telling him to help me to pray and to believe in God for my wife, and to keep his eyes open. He said that he would keep an eye out. God surely has a sense of humour!
Fast forward a few weeks later, and I received a call from him telling me “Guido gooo and search for this girl nowww!”, as he happened to be in the same setting as Shakell. I was like “no way I’m not going to just search out a random girl”. It took me sometime, but I felt compelled to take a look.
To make an even longer story short … I’m on a plane heading to Nassau to meet her, trying to fight the feelings that were developing for her. I tried to talk myself out of wanting to get to know her. I even identified every possible flaw that would cause me to turn away from her, but I couldn’t shake her.”
“Our engagement was just perfect! He had the perfect set up. Guido convinced me that he and his family were in town solely to attend my graduation from university. For weeks he told me that the evening after my graduation ceremony we would be attending this extravagant banquet. We arrived at this beautiful location and all of my family and friends walked out yelling “Surprise!” So the tears began to flow.
A few of my family members and friends took the time to share their heart with the entire group, concerning me. It seemed as if everyone had gathered to celebrate my achievement, until it was Guido’s time to say a few words about me.
He spoke so sweetly and it was surreal when he began to sing the song he had written for me. The line he sang before getting down on one knee was “…won’t you be my wife? Because you changed my life! For the rest of my life, just me and you. Shakell would you marry me?” The room erupted with applause and “awes” as the tears were flowing from every eye in the room. It was perfect.”
“Since our wedding planning didn’t begin the moment after the proposal, it is going great thus far. The thing is, we knew that we were going to get married. We didn’t wait until there was a ring to discuss certain wedding details, like where we were going to get married, and what the colors were going to be or even who was going to bake the cake. We had these ideas together long before the engagement, which made the process much easier.”
“One of the most challenging moments thus far has been staying true to our own ideas, in the midst of adversity and being bombarded by so many different opinions. While the most amazing moments, have been being able to witness all that we’ve envisioned come to life.
For instance, when our appointment had finally come for us to explore the venue for our reception. Immediately as we entered the space our eyes began dancing with excitement visualizing how it would be transformed. It was such an incredible moment.”
“My engagement ring is so beautiful! It has three sparkling round cut diamonds resting in a gallery rail shaped like a crown fit for a queen, all held together by a 14kt gold band.”
“We are getting married on October 21st, 2017, and we couldn’t possibly be more excited!”
“Our wedding will be held at The Church of God of Prophecy East Street Chapel in Nassau, Bahamas. We chose this location because we desired to follow the tradition of having the wedding where the bride is from. Since I will be relocating after the wedding it’s almost like the last “Hoorah!” of sorts.”
“We chose to take a route that suites our own unique style and are having everything custom made and tailored to our taste.”
ANY ADVICE FOR BRIDES-TO-BE?
“My advice to other brides who are planning their wedding would be to try with all of your might not to stress too much about the little things. Not to focus on the fear of everything falling apart but to focus on spending your life with the man you said yes to. The wedding is only one day but the marriage is a lifetime.”
Thank you so much to Shakell and Guido for sharing their oh so adorable Engagement Session with us, and to the amazing Stanlo Photography for the beautiful album!
Congrats darlings!!! We wish you all the happiness in the world.
